get back to your mission

As you think about the past year and look at your analytics, growth, what has worked and what hasn’t — we want to remind you that now is a perfect time to get back to your mission.

WHY DID YOU START THIS ENDEAVOR IN THE FIRST PLACE?

How do we get back to your core mission and values? A great way to do so is to open up your business plan. That thing you likely created at the very start of your venture! Your business plan, roadmap, business strategy — whatever you’d like to call it, should clearly outline your mission and define your well-thought-out vision, strategy, articulation of key metrics, and outline of how you’re going to move them. It encompasses your target market demographics, your competition and your goals. And it is a GREAT idea to pull it out form time to time as a reminder of all of the above. It allows you to think big-picture and to adjust based on what is actually happening in your business. We highly suggest getting back to your business plan on a regular basis.

Why is it important to go back to and update regularly? The milestones you can achieve in just a few months are meaningful. If you think about checking in on your business plan and overall mission on a quarterly basis, it enables constant evaluation, ensures that your daily actions are well-informed and makes pivots easier when things don’t necessarily go as planned.

Don’t have a business plan? It is never too late to gather this information together. One of your most important jobs as an entrepreneur is to have a hard-to-copy vision that outlines your mission and goals. If you never created one to start, open up a document and start writing these things down:

  1. Your Mission

  2. Your Core Values

  3. Your Target Market Demographic

  4. Your Competition

  5. Your Strategy for Growth and Success

  6. Your Marketing Plan

  7. How You Will Assess Success and Failure

Come back to it regularly — at least quarterly — and feel good knowing that you are making informed decisions while serving your mission.
