Laurel Ryan of Nautically Northern
Today I am speaking with Laurel Ryan, who started Nautically Northern, a handmade jewelry company when she moved to Wellfleet in 2016. Laurel’s jewelry making started out as just a hobby but as word spread and more requests came in she decided to take her jewelry to the next level. With help from friends and family Nautically Northern has grown into the brand that it is today. What is truly amazing is that Laurel runs Nautically Northern while working full time as a corporate event planner. Her work with Nautically Northern and the community earned her one of Cape and Plymouth Business Magazine's 40 under 40 awards in 2019.
Laurel dives into her story and journey from making jewelry as a hobby to fully launching Nautically Northern. She talks about her products and what makes them so special as well as some of the first steps she took when she realized she wanted to take her jewelry to the next level. Laurel also works full time as a corporate event planner and talks through how she balances this with Nautically Northern. Laurel touches on how she works to grow the business as well as getting product into people’s hands, especially in the early days of getting the business started. She dives into how she has worked to create new products and keep up with demand as Nautically Northern has grown as well as how she stays creative and comes up with new designs. Laurel talks through some of the most challenging parts of the business as well as the most fun and dives into what she would tell herself if she could go back in time.
