She speaks about taking advantage of her father’s offline experience combined with Aubrey’s digital experience and how they focused on building a team of people to help support their business.

HER BACKGROUND

Aubrey talks about growing up on the South Shore and going to school in Boston which transitioned her to her first job where she started to recognize the need for small businesses to be on social media utilizing it as a marketing tool. She started helping family and friends while working at her second job where she was surrounded by creatives and met her business partner.

We discuss getting started and Aubrey suggests focusing on where your weaknesses lie and talks about seeking out a partner to help match her needs. Aubrey talks about how as entrepreneurs we have a tendency to dive in which is needed but that she would suggest being really focused on getting the right things in place when starting a business.

MARKETING TIPS

Aubrey talks about quality over quantity when it comes to marketing efforts and choosing two channels to focus on to avoid overwhelm. She also suggests having a couple campaigns going on social media and having the messaging be really cohesive in order to have an online presence in your business and to not be afraid to seek help.

NAVIGATING COVID

She tries to be the first to apologize if there is a moment of contention and to reflect on it later but to always remember that at the end of the day the relationship is more important. We also talk about motherhood and Aubrey drives home the point that no one has it figured out and how lucky she has been to be able to lean on family to help with childcare. She tries her best to be with the kids when she is home and giving them her one hundred percent and creating those boundaries.

ATTRACTING THE RIGHT CLIENTS

Aubrey talks about being able to say no to people in order to have boundaries in her business and learning over her career not to put up with certain things.

LEADING LADIES OF THE SOUTH SHORE

Aubrey talks about how and why she created the Leading Ladies of the South Shore Facebook group. She talks about having met with women and friends and wanting to find a way to introduce everyone. She stresses the importance that it is truly a group for all women and that she wants everyone to feel that it is there for them and that they are included.

THAT GUT MOMENT

Aubrey and I discuss when she had that gut moment of realizing that she wanted to work for herself and talks about being able to trust her gut and know that she was the only person who could make it happen. We talk about being able to go back to that moment and reflect on your “why”.
