Planner Roundup: Top Planner Recommendations

As a working mom, productivity is a word I struggle with. Being “productive” means I’m always working toward or doing something that has a direct benefit to myself or my family. I feel “unproductive”, however when my daily running to-do list isn’t completed… and let’s be honest, it’s NEVER complete.

After doing my research and talking with other working and stay at home moms, I found freedom in acknowledging that the to-do list will NEVER be complete and THAT IS OK. I also found freedom in understanding that everyone’s version of productivity is different. What works for me, might not work for Rachael and what works for Rachael may not work for Christen.

But, no matter what your career, productivity style, family structure, etc. there seems to be one common tool to help with productivity and organization…  and that is a PLANNER. Let’s face it, it’s impossible to be productive if you’re unclear on what you have to do and when you have to do it, and who doesn’t love a tool that helps you to feel more on top of ALL of the things you’re juggling?!

Here at The Collective Co. we talk a lot about the tools that work well for us and we’re lucky to work and speak with women from a multitude of backgrounds, from full-time mamas to boss babes and everything in between. So, we rounded up the top planner recommendations that we’ve gotten and we’re pretty happy about our list. Just remember, it doesn’t matter what goals you make if you don’t have a system in place to reach them!

Some additional planner tips

“A Sunday well spent, brings a week of content.” Might be a lofty quote, but we have found that it is so helpful to take 20-30 minutes every Sunday to plan out the upcoming week.  When my girls were small and I was married, I tried as often as possible to do this with my husband so we both were on the same page as to what our week looked like. Now that my daughters are older, they are included in the conversation. We go over all of the activities, appointments, big projects or tests, all of it… EVERYTHING gets written down.  If it’s not written down, it doesn’t happen!

Just like 30 minutes on a Sunday improves your week, 5 minutes each morning can set your day up for success. Having a refresher on what my day looks like each morning is a necessity in my household, and reminds me if there’s any permission slips, notes or materials that need to go into backpacks that morning and sets us all up for a smoother day.
